Honoring a university’s alumni with a celebration designed to share the love.
THE CHALLENGE
The Howard University Alumni Association represents some of the most influential, diverse, and inspiring leaders across countless fields impacting communities all around the world. Kamala Harris. Chadwick Boseman. Toni Morrison. History-defining leaders. I was asked to create a graphic that the Alumni Association could use to foster some #bisonlove among the alumni network, fostering community online.
THE SOLUTION
For a community that has so much to celebrate, I was thrilled to be able to honor their brand guidelines while creating a fresh, engaging graphic to add to their portfolio. I worked within the existing brand guidelines provided by the university and alumni association, finding playful ways for the letters "H" and "U" to interact and express the kind of joy alumni feel when recounting their experiences at Howard University. I worked with the client to review several iterations of the concept before narrowing it down to one design.
THE RESULT
The #bisonlove graphic was well loved on social media, receiving 128 reactions on Facebook and 28 post shares. Comments were positive, as users wrote, "Beautiful. I love my alma mater Howard University," and suggested "This would make a terrific T-shirt. #HintHint."
